Call to enforce child protection laws

TIMERGARA: Speakers at a function organised during an inaugural ceremony of the child protection unit in Dir Lower urged the civil society, government departments and media to play their role for implementation of all rules and bylaws regarding child protection.

Deputy Commissioner Dir Lower Muhammad Zubair was the chief guest on the occasion while district heads of government departments, representatives of civil society, lawyers, teachers, police and administration officers attended the function.

Deputy Chief of Child Protection and Welfare Commission Ijaz Muhammad Khan gave detail presentation about the unit and said the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was committed to ensure child protection in the province. Social activists Ibrash Pasha, Akbar Khan and others also spoke on the occasion. Addressing the function Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Zubair said that poverty and illiteracy were the main cause of militancy and violation of child rights. He said that all stakeholders should initiate sincere efforts for eradication of poverty and ending child labour and child abuse.
