Call for women’s share in Fata Grand Assembly

Expressing concern over lack of women representation in the Fata Grand Assembly, members of a civil society organisation demanded proper representation to women in the assembly by reviewing the Fata reforms agenda before its approval.

Addressing a news conference here at press club on Wednesday, a representative of ‘Takra Qabili Khowende’ (Stronger Tribal Sisters), a non governmental organisation of tribal women, Irum Bibi said that successive governments only raised hollow slogans to bring people of Fata in the mainstream and mitigate their sufferings by taking any serious step in this regard. She said that no high official paid even a visit to tribal areas during their last five years in government, which was a matter of grave concern.
“Tribal women and children are the worst affected due to the ongoing situation in Fata and most of whom were compelled to leave their hometown,” she observed.
