Bullet-riddled bodies of two women found

PESHAWAR, Feb 1: Bullet riddled bodies of two women were recovered from a water course in Achini area Sunday morning.

Witnesses said that the bodies carried visible marks of torture and stab wounds. The deceased were also sprayed with bullets by the unidentified killers.

The bodies were found by some inhabitants of Achini village in the morning in a rainwater course, separating the upscale Hayatabad Township from the Achini area.

The deceased were identified as Ms Sarwat, hailing from Charsadda district, and Ms Salma, an Afghan. The former is stated to be about 40 whereas the Afghan is around 20. Both of them resided in the same house in Tehkal area.

An official of the concerned Saarband police station told Dawn that a family member of one of the deceased had identified the bodies. He stated that the deceased were allegedly involved in indecent business and had gone with some customers. He added that there was no report about their kidnapping.

About the rumours that the women were killed by a militant group, he said that it would be premature to confirm that they were killed by any of the militant groups or this was the handiwork of other elements.

Witnesses said that when some inhabitants of the area spotted the bodies the news spread like jungle fire in the village following which a large number of villagers gathered there. Some of them covered the almost naked bodies with sheets of cloth.
