Brutal torture of woman: Faryal orders police to lodge FIR

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Women Wing President Faryal Talpur taking serious notice of torture on a woman ‘Z’ and later shaving of her head by her husband and relatives in Larkana, directed lodging an FIR against the accused and provided Rs 20,000 relief cheque to the victim.

This was informed by Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Information and PPP Women Wing Information Secretary Sharmila Farooqi here on Sunday through a statement.

Talpur took immediate notice and directed action against the incident and issued orders to Larkana DIG and DPO to ensure security, medical treatment and justice to the victim by lodging an FIR and arresting the accused, Sharmila informed.

“Talpur also issued orders for activating women police stations in Sindh to secure women from domestic violence and inhuman acts that are the worst type of stigma on the face of the society.”

“Talpur has asked the government, political, religious and civil society organisations to come forward with a broad-mind and positive approach based on human rights to save women from domestic violence and other inhuman acts,” she informed.

“On the directives of Talpur, the victim has been provided strict security, while the police are in action to ensure punishment to the accused,” she informed.

Talpur wanted to end domestic violence and Karo-Kari culture in Sindh at all costs, which is why she issued directives to the police across Sindh to accelerate actions for securing women and children on priority basis.

“Talpur had said that the women could play a major role in reforming the society if they are provided equal opportunities at par with men in education, health and all other sectors of life, so there is a need to encourage women for a better and peaceful society,” she added.
