LAYYAH -: A 36-year-old blind woman was gang-raped by three brothers in their house as they enticed her to enter their home on the promise of treatment of her eyes and face that had been burnt in an acid attack years ago at Kot Sultan. The accused including Younus, Salem and Khalid took her to their house for doing help for her treatment. On her hue and cry, the accused fled away leaving the victim there while the local people brought her to Police Station Kot Sultan.
The victim has been admitted to a hospital. According to police sources, 12 years ago, Nazar Hussain, alleged lover of the women, had seared her face with acid. The police registered a case against the accused. Layyah DPO Ali Zia has formed a committee under DSP Ikramullah to investigate into the incident. Talking to Nation, the DPO said that police will soon arrest the accused. However, the accused have got bail from the court. Later, the main accused Younus has been arrested.Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the gang rape in Layyah and sought a report from the district police officer. The CM ordered immediate arrest of the accused. He also pledged support with the victim and her family.
