Bail of alleged serial rapist cancelled

KARACHI: The interim bail granted to a police officer allegedly dubbed a serial rapist was cancelled on Wednesday by Justice Amir Hani Muslim of the Sindh High Court (SHC).

The bench was seized with the bail plea moved by Assistant Sub Inspector Police (ASI) Rana M. Tasleem of Landhi Police Station. When the bail plea came up for hearing, Additional Advocate General Sindh Adnan A. Karim appeared along with the Investigation Officers (IOs) of the three cases registered against the accused.

One of the IOs stated before the court that accused was alleged to have raped another women and threatened her after he was released on bail.

The IO of the most recent case stated the facts of the case before the bench. The bench was told that according to R, the victim and complainant, she was abducted by the accused from her mother’s house of her mother and taken to Punjab, where she was subjected to rape by the accused and later, other men brought by the accused. She slipped away one day and came to Karachi, where she was trapped by a gang, which sexually harassed her, and finally, she appeared before a judicial magistrate where she narrated her ordeal.

The complainant has implicated the accused fully and thus he is not entitled to bail, the state counsel submitted.
