2nd Ladies Fund conference fascinates audience

KARACHI: Dawood Global Foundation (DGF) in collaboration with Dawood Capital Management Limited (DCML), Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Avari Group organised the second Ladies Fund Entrepreneurship Conference, at a local hotel here Friday evening.

Addressing the participants at the programme, guest of honour, British Deputy High Commissioner Francis Campbell said that it was a remarkable evening as participants listened to various success stories about entrepreneurship.

He advised the students and other participants to believe in success. He further said that success is usually achieved after several ups and downs and one should not give up against hurdles.

He hailed the Ladies Fund and termed it vibrant for the economic and social betterment of masses, particularly women. He urged youth to come forward and develop courage for successful entrepreneurship.

DCML Chief Executive Officer Tara Uzra Dawood shed light on women entrepreneurship across the world. She was of the view that women entrepreneurship could bring prosperity to women and play a significant role in bringing revolutionary change for the women of Pakistan.

Talking about the Ladies Fund, she said that it had changed the fate of a large number of women by supporting them in raising their economic and social statuses. Vowing to continue her struggle, Dawood said that she received an overwhelming response for her initiative. “The initiative has become a source of inspiration for the women across the world”, she added.

Avari Towers Karachi General Manager and co-host of the event Gordon James Gorman gave a multimedia presentation to the participants on “Entrepreneurial Tips”. He encouraged the participants, particularly youth to come forward and start entrepreneurship.

Two panel discussions were also held at the conference to invoke courage and inspiration among the participants for entrepreneurship. Panelists, including renowned interior designer and architect Naheed Mashooq Ullah, famous dress designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, famous name in restaurant chains Naila Naqvi, famous woman entrepreneur Zeenat Saeed Ahmed, founder of Coke Studio Rohyal Hayat and founders of various Pakistani companies Ayaz Khan and Wajjeha Malik shared their successful stories with the audience.

Participants asked several questions for guidance and applauded the guests of panel discussion on this occasion.

The ceremony concluded with a lucky draw for participants. Winners were provided with gift baskets, cakes and return air tickets. On the occasion, plaques were presented to distinguished guests.
